EYES OF THE OWL BOOKS - COPYRIGHTED LOGO

        If this is your first visit to Wolfeboro, welcome!   Once you have visited Blacks Paper Store, the Yum Yum shop, and Hampshire Pewter, please support our terrific store, packed with lots of used or rare books and records!   Lots of folks look forward to visiting us each year.   Thanks for making us a part of your family vacation in the Lakes Region!

        We will be setting new hours for the 2012 summer season.   Our plan for now is to be open by appointment or chance on warm weekend afternoons until May.

        Call for directions and leave a message if you are going to be visiting Wolfeboro, or the surrounding area of Tuftonborough, Ossipee, Alton, Wakefield, or Moultonborough.   You may want to make a special detour if you are headed to Conway and the White Mountains.

        Our book store was once an old horse barn... but today you will find a comfortable atmosphere.   Perhaps you want to review the floorplan before your visit.   You can also see a slideshow of my shop or view the pictures without the chatter.   Hey, I thought that your shop was green?   Actually the landlord did a lot of work to the exterior, so now we are a cool blue.

        We are also the home of John's Records, where you can find: classic 78 RPM Records, LPs - 33 RPM vinyl albums, and 45 RPM singles.   We have over 1250 records priced below $10.   John also constructed handcrafted models of vintage military aircraft, armored vehicles and warships.   You can see an example of his work at the Wright Museum and the model airplanes in my shop.

        The Fall of 2011 held many challenges for Eyes of the Owl.   John Heyl, founder of John's Records, died in September.   Betty, our much loved neighbor and shop keeper for many years, also passed away over Thanksgiving weekend.

        This pair of losses clearly means that our book store will be seeking local folks interested in helping us build upon our tradition of friendly and knowledgeable customer service.

***   Seeking Used Book Store Interns   ***
===============================

        We seek one or two flexible, trustworthy individuals who possess experience working well with the general public in a retail environment.   Our bookstore is not automated, so valued skills include legible handwriting, ability to perform accurate arithmetic calculations, and alphabetizing.   Because our book shelves extend from the floor to the rafters, you should be able to assist customers by retrieving high volumes using a step stool, or crouch to get low titles.   Other physical demands include general movement and moderate lifting of our goods.   Interns regularly train with and assist the owner for two to four hours each week.   Experienced interns set their own solo schedule within parameters established by the owner: in two hour increments up to 16 hours per week, depending on weather and previous sales.   Please contact Wally for more information.
